Arizona theaters have become porn theaters, police say

Phoenix, Ariz.

— Phoenix Police Chief Greg Hartzler said police have arrested a man and charged him with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 16, according to the Phoenix New Times.

Hartzler told the paper that the alleged victim, a 14-year-old boy, was at a movie theater near the River Oaks in Phoenix when he was sexually assaulted by a man in a dark SUV and another man behind the wheel.

The suspect fled the scene, Hartzled said.

“The suspect is a person of interest in this case, and we are actively investigating this case,” he said.

The suspect, a Hispanic man who was later identified as the suspect in the other assault, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree rape, possession of child pornography, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia, Hartsler said.

Hartzled confirmed that a third suspect was arrested earlier this month, but declined to identify the other two.

He said he would not release the names of the other suspects until after an initial hearing in the case.

Police released no other information on the suspect.
